Growing In Faith Together  (G.I.F.T.)

A Perspective and Focus on Faith Formation at St. Peter's Lutheran Church

St Peter's is moving away from the old "Sunday School Model" of faith formation and into a "Cooperative partnership" to better support our individuals, children and families in developing and growing faith.

This is not a "replacement" of our age specific programs: Sunday School, Teens & Tweens, Confirmation, Youth Group, Adult Sunday School, Bible Study groups, or any of our other currently existing programs. Instead, it is a different perspective on the process of faith fomration and growth.

Sunday School: Christian Education is offered for children ages 2 yrs. through high school and for adults, on Sundays (Sept.-May) from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.  Coffee, juice, and pastries are offered in the kitchen beginning at 8:45 a.m.

Confirmation Ministry: St. Peter's Lutheran Church participates in the Lancaster ELCA Cluster Confirmation Ministry Program for middle school age youth. The two-year program is led by the pastors of the participating churches on weekend and day-long retreats.

First Communion Instruction is offered to all children of the church as they and their families determine their readiness.  Contact the pastor when you feel that time is near.

Adult Bible Study and Small Group Studies: An Adult Bible / Book Study Group, meets weekly (Monday evenings).  Other short term study groups for New Member Instruction, Bible Study, Christian Enrichment and Spiritual Growth are offered at different times during the year as announced.

Church Library: Help is welcome for various jobs -- including preparing displays, reviewing books, and inputting information into our computer card catalog -- that keep our church library accessible and usable for children and adults.

Vacation Bible School: St Peter's participates in a Joint VBS Program with adults, youth and children from St Paul, Our Savior, First English and Calvary Lutheran Churches.  We welcome all children to join us for 5 evenings of  learning, fun, and growth.  Children and their parents are invited to begin each evening with a light supper hosted by the participating congregations.

Nursery: Children are welcome in St. Peter’s worship services.  We also provide an unstaffed nursery area for those parents who wish to use it during the service.  The worship service can also be heard from the Social Room on the lower level and often parents and their younger children will take a break to that area as well.
