Prayer Ministries

There are four ministries of prayer at St. Peter’s.

Requests are made:

  • by phone through the telephone chairperson, Della Partridge, or Prayer Vigil chairperson, Linda Rodenbaugh
  • through the church office
  • or through the Blue Pew Prayer Request cards that may be returned via the offering plates.

Be sure to note if your request may be shared or is to be kept confidential.

Telephone Prayer Chain: St. Peter's Church has a very active telephone prayer chain ministry. Members and non-members may request urgent prayers for family and friends burdened with illness, loss, and other problems. The telephone prayer chain also offers prayers for those in long-term, ongoing situations and circumstances (such as cancer, chronic health problems, depression, unrelenting grief, and addictions). To activate the telephone prayer chain, contact the person listed on the Leaders page of the directory or contact the church office.  Telephone prayer chain requests are prayed for daily. Requests can be made with or without names as preferred and are kept confidential within the prayer chain group.

Congregational “Prayer Cares”: Our congregation can be requested to offer prayers for individuals and circumstances over a few days or weeks. Those requests are included in the printed “Prayer Cares” of each Sunday worship bulletin for a period of 4 weeks.  Requests must be resubmitted if additional time is desired.

Prayer Vigil: In addition, a Prayer Vigil may be requested as persons undergo surgery. Contact is made through the church office with information of the time, hospital, and physicians and surgeons. Various individuals offer prayer to cover the expected time of the surgery. Please allow advance notice when at all possible. Follow-up information is also much appreciated as the surgery is completed.

Prayer Group: Our prayer "Pray-ers"  meet weekly for a brief prayer service in the sanctuary to offer prayer for the congregation and for individuals with current concerns. The group shares resources and provides updated prayer lists for members to continue prayers during the week. Anyone is welcome to come for this 30 minute time of prayer and meditation.
